As an Art Buddy, you'll work one-one-one with your child - while creating side-by-side with a group of other creative people from advertising, design and architecture.
You'll help your child know the joy of creativity and self-expression, and the fun of working closely with a creative person like you.
Art Buddies is an After-School program. It starts in September or October each fall, and runs once-a-week, for a time commitment ranging from 6 to 10 weeks. Each spring, Art Buddies starts in April and runs for 6 or 7 weeks. You'll create with a group of about 75 others at a community center in south Minneapolis.
You and your child will make something fanciful and unique together, something the kids may have never thought possible. You'll spark their imagination with our huge collection of art supplies - including fur, feathers, fake jewels and all sorts of wild stuff. You'll also create a journal of your experience together - a Buddy Book your child will take home.
You'll share your career with your child, too, by bringing something that shows your child what you do. Most of the kids have no idea what a creative job in advertising or design is like.
At the end of the program, you'll pose with your child for professional photographers, then celebrate your child's achievement in an exciting parade and performance. Afterwards, you're invited to join your fellow volunteers at a party in Uptown. |
